Week 14 - 3rd March 2010

The first game this week saw The Con Club A host The Pike and Eel. The home side took the first doubles game through Stuart Coe Snr (100) and Ivan Lester (100x2) only for Gary Birch (140,100) and ‘Apple’ (140,120,100) to level the match. Ivan Lester (100x3) made it 2-1 to The Cons only for Gary Birch (100x3) to level again. Ray Hobrow (140,100x2) gave The Cons the advantage again but an in form ‘Apple’ (180,140x3, 136,105,100x2) sent the match into the deciding game where a win for John Gaul (125) gave The Pike a 4-3 victory.
Game two saw The Workers entertain Long Buckby FC. The away side took the first doubles game through Mick Feasey (140x2, 100x2) and Ged Berrill (100) only for Ray Jones (180,121,100) and Ricky Cole (180) to level the match. The Workers then took the first two singles games through Ricky Cole (100) and Andy Winters. Mick Feasey (121,100) pulled one back for Long Buckby only for the home side to take the final two games through Andy Swain (140,100) and Matt Edgar (140x2, 121,106f) giving The Workers a 5 games to 2 success.
Game three saw Daventry SSC take on The George. The home side took the first doubles game through Paul Butler (140) and Ian Ingram (100) only for Andy Teale and Debbie Clayton (113,94) to level the match. The home side then took the first three doubles games through Paul Butler (140,125,100x3), Troy Miller (133) and Alex Miller (100). Adam Cox (132,120x2, 100) pulled one back for The George but a win for Stuart Marshall (140) gave Daventry SSC a 5 games to 2 win.
Game four was played at The Wheatsheaf, Weedon versus St James A. The away side took both doubles games through ‘Juice’ and Mick Doney (140,100x2) followed by ‘Bully’ (100x4) and ‘Hemps’ (125,100). Roy Osborne (140,123,100x2) reduced the deficit only for St James to take the next two games through ‘Burtie’ (100x5) and ‘Juice’ (100x2). The Wheatsheaf took the final two games with wins for Max Murray (100) and Bryan Farmer (140x2, 100) but it is St James who win by 4 games to 3.
A rearranged game between the above two teams was also played on this evening. The Wheatsheaf took both doubles games through Bryan Farmer (100x2) and Roy Osborne (135,100) followed by Scott Grimsley (140) and Max Murray (100x2). St James responded by taking all 5 singles games with wins for Mick Doney (140,121), ‘Hemps’ (100x3), ‘Bully’ (100x4), ‘Juice’ (140,121,100) and ‘Burtie’ (140,100x2) giving St James a 5 games to 2 success.
League 2
The first game in league 2 saw The Plume of Feathers host The Wheatsheaf B, Weedon. The away side took the first doubles game through Dave Bangs (122,100) and Dave Needham only for D Lowbridge and Neil Dowd (105) to level the match. The Plume then took all five singles games through Michael Christie (180,123,100), S Tacey (134), ‘Shoes’ Graham (100), Rob Cooper (100) and ‘Jug’ (140) giving The Wheatsheaf a 6-1 victory.
Game two saw The Maltsters, Weedon take on St James B. The home side took both doubles games through Iain Harper (117f, 100) and R Franks followed by C Brady and S Arissol (100x2). S Arissol (100x2) made it 3-0 only for Gavin Taylor (100) to pull one back for St James. C Brady (105,100x2) made it 4-1 but a win for Allan Taylor (100) reduced the deficit again. R Franks took the final game giving The Maltsters a 5 games to 2 success.
Game three was played at the Bowls Club verses The Dun Cow. The away side took both doubles matches with wins for Nev Thornicroft and Terry Griffin (100) followed by Ritchie Elliot (100x2) and Clive Hart. Brian Gelder (140,100x5) pulled one back for The Bowls Club only for The Dun Cow to take the next three games with wins for Nev Thornicroft (140), Luke Spense (100) and Richard Winn (128,100). M. Starkey (139) took the final game for The Bowls Club but it is The Dun Cow who came away with a 5 games to 2 victory.
The final game in league 2 saw St James Minxs host The Con Club B. The away side took both doubles games through Malc Giles (121,100) and JP Pickerin followed by Steve Binder and Paula Giles (115,91,87). Barbara Maxwell (87) reduced the deficit only for JP Pickerin (120,100x2) to restore the 2 games advantage. Annette Heath (83) pulled another one back for The Minxs but wins for Malc Giles and Steve Binder (100x2) gave The Con Club B a 5 games to 2 success.

League 1

The first game this week saw the Workers host Daventry SSC. The away side took the first doubles game with a win for Paul Butler (180,100x2) and Troy Miller (120) only for Matt Edgar (139,135,100x2) and Andy Swain (100) to level the match. Wins for Stuart Marshall (121,100) and Tony Randall (100x3) gave SSC a 3-1 lead. Ricky Cole (125,100x3) reduced the deficit only for SSC to take the final two games through Paul Butler (135,134,100x4) and Troy Miller giving SSC a 5 games to 2 success.
Game 2 saw Long Buckby FC entertain The Wheatsheaf A, Weedon. The home side took the first doubles game through Joe Gammidge (133) and Iain Bow (111,100x3) only for Roy Osborne and Shaun Gibbs (140) to level the match. A win for Ivan Lester (140x2) made it 2-1 to The Cons. The Wheatsheaf responded by taking the next three games through Gordon Aldridge (140), Dave Harris (100x2) and ‘Swanny’ (140,105,100x2). St James levelled the match by taking the next two games with wins for Anthony Leedham (100) and Stuart Heath (121,100x3). The Dun Cow responded by taking the next two games through Keith Chapman (117) and Luke Spence (100). Gavin Taylor (121,100) took the final game for St James but it is The Dun Cow who take a 4 games to 3 victory.
Game two saw The Con Club B take on The Bowls Club. The away side took the first doubles game through M Harris (115) and M Waldron only for JP Pickerin and Paula Giles (92) to level the match. A win for JP Pickerin (100) gave The Cons the lead only for The Bowls Club to take the next three games through B Gelder (140), Bob Polwarth (100) and M Waldron (100). Steve Binder (100) took the final game for The Cons but it is The Bowls Club who win by 4 games to 3.

The final game in league 2 saw The White Horse, Norton host The Maltsters, Weedon. The away side took the first doubles game through Rob Franks (100x2) and Steve Arissol (100) only for Neil Keeling (136) and Phil Turner to level the match. Neil Bayliss gave The Maltsters the lead but wins for Ian Donachie (125,100) and Neil Keeling swung the advantage to The White Horse. A win for Iain Harper (140x2, 100x2) sent the match into the deciding game where Phil Turner secured 4 games to 3 success for The White Horse.

The first game this week saw the Con Club A. host The George. The home side took the first doubles games with a win for Stuart Coe Jnr and Stuart Coe Snr (100) only for Andy Teale (125,100x2) and Gordon Eyles to level the match. The George then took the next four singles games with wins for Andy Teale (121), John Allaway (100), Kyle Aldridge (100x3) and Gordon Eyles (100). Ivan Lester (100x3) took the final game for The Cons but it is The George who won their first match of the season by 5 games to 2.
Game 2 was played at The Wheatsheaf, Weedon versus The Wheatsheaf, Braunston. The away side took the first doubles game with a win for ‘Swanny’ (180,123,100) and Gavin Taylor only for Shaun Gibbs (140,100x2) and Max Murray to level the match. The Braunston side then took the first 3 singles games through Gordon Aldridge (121,102,100), Gavin Taylor (118,100), and ‘Swanny’ (180,140,134,100). Shaun Gibbs (180,140,125,100x3) reduced the deficit but a win for Dave Harris (140,100x3) gave the Braunston side 5 games to 2 success.

Long Buckby then took the first two singles games through Pete Shirley (140,121,100x3) and Ray Feasey (140,125). Paul Butler (100) pulled one back for SSC only for Mick Feasey (180,121,100x2) to restore the four game advantage. Tony Randall (120,100x3) took the final game for Daventry SSC but it is Long Buckby who won by 5 games to 2.
Game two was held at The Wheatsheaf, Braunston versus The Pike and Eel. The away side took the first doubles game through Chris Gay and ‘Apple’ only for Gavin Taylor (116,103,100) and ‘Swanny’ (140x2, 125) to level the match. St James then took the next four games with wins for Stuart Heath (140,100x2), John Geary (100), Anthony Leedham (100x3) and Donna Taylor (101,100x2, 85,86,81,80). Simon Gulliver (100x2) took the final game for The White Horse but it is St James who win by 5 games to 2.
The third game saw The Dun Cow entertain The Maltsters, Weedon. The Maltsters took the first doubles game through S Arissol and N Bayliss (100) only for Richie Elliot (100) and Clive Hart (101) to level the match. N Bayliss (125,100x2) restored the advantage for The Wheatsheaf but a win for Clive Hart levelled again. A win for Ian Harper (140,125,100x2) made it 3-2 but once again The Dun levelled through Nev Thornicroft (125,100). In the deciding game a win for Richie Elliott (125,121) gave The Dun Cow 4 games to 3 victory.
The final game in league 2 saw The Bowls Club entertain The Wheatsheaf, Weedon B. The home side took both doubles games through Bob Polwarth and M Waldron (144f) followed by Derek Brewer and Mick Starkey. M Edwards (100) pulled one back for The Wheatsheaf only for M Waldron (100) to restore the 2 game advantage. A win for Dave Bangs (113) reduced the deficit only for M Starkey to restore the 2 game advantage again. Paul Marsh took the final game for The Wheatsheaf but it is The Bowls Club who won by 4 games to 3.

St James then took all five singles games with wins for Craig Graham, ‘Juice’ (122,100x5), ‘Hemps’ (100x2), ‘Burtie’ (100x2) and finally ‘Bully’ (110f, 100x2) giving St James a 7 games to 0 success.
Game two saw The George entertain The Pike and Eel. The Pike took both doubles matches through Nigel Turland (100x2) and Chris Gay (100) followed by ‘Apple’ (134,121) and John Gaul (100). The Pike then took the next two singles games with wins for Chris Gay (100x3) and Gary Birch (121,100). Andy Teale (100x2) pulled one back for The Pike but wins for John Gaul (135,100) and ‘Apple’ 125,100x2, 110f) gave The Pike a 6-1 victory.
Game three was at Daventry SSC versus The Wheatsheaf, Weedon. The home side took both doubles matches with wins for Troy Miller (100) and Paul Butler (140,100x2) followed by Tony Randall (100) and Ian Ingram. DSSC then took the first two singles games through Troy Miller and Paul Butler (140x3, 100x3). The Wheatsheaf responded by taking the final three games through Max Murray (140x2, 100), Brian Farmer (140,100x2) and Scot Grimsley (118,100x2) but it is DSSC who win by 4 games to 3.

The away side then took the next three singles games with wins for Keith Chapman (133), Richie Elliot (100x2) and Nev Thornicroft. John Gaul (140,100x2) levelled the match and a win for ‘Apple’ (140,100) in the deciding game saw The Pike win by 4 games to 3.

Game three saw St James B entertain The Con Club B. The home side took both doubles games through Allan Taylor and Anthony Leedham (100) followed by Cheryl Astill (100,98) and Gail Taylor (103,84). St James then took the first three singles games with wins for Donna Taylor (81,92,80), John Geary (140) and Anthony Leedham (100).
