7th June 2010

The fixtures for the division 1 and 2 knockout cup semi finals on Wednesday 9th June are as follows:

St James A v Pike and Eel at The Workers
The Workers v Long Buckby at The Wheatsheaf Weedon
White Horse Norton v Bowls Club at The Wheatsheaf Braunston
Plume of Feathers v Dun Cow at The Con Club.

Will all teams who won trophies last year please return to Ray Jones or Dave Hewitt as soon as possible.
Any teams wishing to participate in the summer league must have a representative attend the next meeting at The St James Club on the 24th June at 8pm.

Entries for The Charity Cup are to be submitted by the 25th March, late entries will not be entered. Some teams have expressed a desire to enter two teams, this has been accepted provisionally but may be reviewed if too many teams are entered. Will all teams please note the new format ie: team game first, then doubles and singles last.

Entries for the singles and doubles competitions have to be submitted by Wednesday the 4th March, late entries will not be accepted.

3rd Feb 2010

The first game this week saw The George host Long Buckby FC. The away side took both doubles matches with wins for Pete Shirley (100) and Ray Feasey followed by Jed Berrill (100) and Mick Feasey (140,125,100). Ian Bow (125,100) made it 3-0 only for Andy Teale (100x3) to pull one back for The George. A win for Jed Berrill made it 4-1 to Long Buckby. Kyle Aldridge (110,100x2) and Gordon Eyles took the last two games for The George but it is Long Buckby who progress to the next round with a 4 games to 3 win.
Game two was played at The Wheatsheaf, Braunston versus The Daventry Workers. The away side took both doubles matches through Taff Hartley (100,135) and Dave Hewitt (100) followed by Matt Edgar (140) and Andy Swain (100x4). Dave Harris (140,100x2) pulled one back for The Wheatsheaf only for The Workers to take the final four games with wins for Andy Swain (137), Ricky Cole (140,121,100x2, 100f), Matt Edgar (140x2, 100x3) and finally Dave Jones giving The Workers a 6 games to 1 victory.
Game three saw The Pike and Eel entertain Daventry SSC. The away side took the first game with a win for Paul Butler (140x2, 100) and Tony Randall (140) only for Chris Gay (100,125) and Dave Summerfield (100x2) to level the match. Paul Butler (140,118,100) gave Daventry SSC the advantage only for The Pike to take the final 4 games with wins for ‘Apple’ (180,140,123,121), Chris Gay (133,117), Dave Summerfield (140,100) and Gary Birch (100x3) giving The Pike a 5 games to 2 success and a place in the next round.
The final game in League 1 saw St James A take on The Con Club A. The home side took the first doubles game with a win for ‘Hemps’ (140,100) and ‘Bully’ (122,100) only for Ivan Lester (100x3, 140) and Stuart Coe Snr (140) to level the match. St James then took the next 3 singles games through ‘Hemps’ (100,125),’Bully’ (121x2, 100x2) and Willie Taylor (100x2). Ivan Lester (140,100x3) pulled one back for The Cons but a win for ‘Burtie’ (100x4) gave St James a 5 games to 2 victory.

League 2
The first game in league 2 saw The Plume of Feathers entertain St James’ Minxs. The home side took both doubles matches with wins for Dave Christie and Glenn Graham (100) followed by B. Piper (100,109) and S.Tacey. The Plume then took all five singles games through Michael Christie, Dave Christie, ’Jug’, S.Tacey (140,100) and Neil Dowd (100) giving The Plume 7 games to 0 win and a place in the next round.
Game 2 saw The Wheatsheaf, Weedon take on The Dun Cow. The Dun Cow took both doubles matches with wins for Clive Hart and Terry Griffin followed by Ritchie Elliot and John Swinbourne (120,100x2). Wins for Terry Griffin (100x2) and Ritchie Elliot made it 4-0 to The Dun Cow. The Wheatsheaf replied by taking the final three games through Mike Edwards (100), Dave Bangs (100), and Paul Marsh (121,101,100,100f) but it is The Dun Cow who progress to the next round with a 4-3 win.
Game 3 was at The White Horse, Norton against St James B. The home side took both doubles matches through Lee Walker (100) and Simon Gulliver (100,105) followed by Phil Turner and Neil Keeling (123,100). Wins for Lee Walker (140,120) and Julian Wickham (140x2, 100x2) made it 4-0 to The White Horse. Allan Taylor (100) and Anthony Leedham (140,116,100) reduced the deficit only for a win by Phil Turner (135,118,100x2) to give The White Horse a 5-2 success.
The final game saw The Bowls Club entertain The Con Club B. The away side took both doubles matches with wins for Paula Giles (80) and Steve Binder (100) followed by JP Pickerin (100x2) and Malc Giles. A win for Steve Binder (134) made it 3-0 to The Cons. The Bowls Club responded by taking the next 4 games with wins for Matt Waldron (100x2), Mick Starkey, Jeff Smith, and Bob Polwarth giving The Bowls Club 4 games to 3 victory and a place in the next round.

Performances of the evening go to ‘Apple’ (180), Ricky Cole (100 f), Paul Marsh (100 f)
